Scheduled Walk on Tours!!!

Join us aboard the M/V Carillon daily during July, August, and foliage season.

Mondays we will depart at 3:00pm out of Whitehall Marina in New York. Travel south through Lock 12 before heading north into Lake Champlain. Enjoy a 1.5 hour cruise on this unique section of Lake Champlain. Learn about Whitehall's critical place in America's War for Independence. The Captain will also share stories of colorful characters who worked on or lived near this section of Lake Champlain. We will sail through the narrowest section of Cruising past Fort TiconderogaLake Champlain (Put's Rock) and learn how it got that name. Learn about the colorful founder of the town of Fair Haven and his extraordinary political career. Or how about Whitehall's female telegraph operator whom wore men's pants and rode a motorcycle to work. We will sail past the Poultney River and see where the fleet from the War of 1812 is resting. Our cruise takes us past the Helen Buckner Preserve. This Nature Conservancy property is home to many endangered specie including the Eastern Timber Rattlesnake. Cruising past Fort Ticonderoga Don't worry, they aren't fond of water. We will sail past an Osprey nest that has been active for the past three years. Bald Eagles and herons are regularly seen on this cruise. It is always a good idea to call ahead to assure that we have room on these trips.

Monday evenings during July and August at 5:30pm the Carillon will sail from Whitehall again. This will be a dinner and cruise. Please call Whitehall Marina at (518)499-9700 for reservations.

Cruising past Fort Ticonderoga

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during July, August, and again during foliage season the Carillon will depart at 1:00pm from our dock at Larrabee's Point in Shoreham. Enjoy a historical narrative by the Captain during this 1.5 hour trip past Fort Ticonderoga, Mount Defiance, and Mount Independence. On this cruise we will see Hand's Cove where Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys staged their attack on Fort Ticonderoga on May 10, 1775, the first offensive victory of the Revolution. Then we will see where Samuel de Champlain fought the Iroquis during his discovery of Lake Champlain. Do you know who was the inventor of the fishing lure? What are the implications of driving on the ice on Lake Champlain and who do you call if your car falls through? There are so many colorful characters along the lake and we will share many of their stories with you. We often see Bald Eagles and Osprey. And of course, we always keep our eye out for Champ, the Lake Champlain monster.

Cruising past Fort Ticonderoga An exciting feature added to the Carillon last year was side-imaging sonar. This allows passengers to view wrecks and artifacts on the bottom of the Lake as we cruise. There are wrecks dating from the 18th through the 20th century. We will see a bridge built by the Continental Army in 1777, a wooden canal boat sunk in the 1800's, and others. We have not seen Champ yet, but are still looking.

Please be prompt. Tours leave at 1:00pm from the Shoreham dock and at 3:00pm from the Whitehall Marina. Call (802)897-5331 with any questions. It is also a good idea to check the Reservation Calendar on this website for any changes due to previously scheduled cruises.
