Come aboard the 60ft luxury vessel "Carillon." French for "Ringing Bells," this is a replica of a 1920's 1000 Island's cruise boat. Explore the historic waters of Southern Lake Champlain. Named after Samuel de Champlain, the Lake celebrated its 400th anniversary of his discovery in 2009. Let your imagination take you along with Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys as they travel from Hand's Cove in Shoreham, Vermont to Willow Point on the New York shore. Learn of Nathan Beeman, Lock 12 in Whitehall New York a young lad who leads the men into Fort Ticonderoga. Lock 12 in Whitehall New YorkVisualize the capture of the fort as the Carillon pauses offshore. The defeat of the British at Fort Ticonderoga was the first Revolutionary War victory for the Americans. View and learn the importance of Mount Defiance. Sail past Mount Independence where upwards of 14,000 Americans were quartered in the Summer of 1776. During our cruise watch the drop-down TV for side-imaging sonar images of artifacts and wrecks below dating as far back as the 18th century. The Lock 12 in Whitehall New York lake is also home to an abundance of wildlife. The narrow southern lake allows you to view both Vermont and New York shores. Sightings of Bald Eagles, Osprey, and Herons are frequent and exciting. This year (2011) we have three returning nesting pairs of Bald Eagles that we will sail past on most cruises and they each have two chicks on the nest.

At 1:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday-Sunday during July, August, the Carillon sails from Larrabee's Point in Shoreham, VT, next to the Ticonderoga Ferry on the Vermont side of the lake. This is the 2nd longest continuously operating ferry in existence. We offer the same cruise beginning the 3rd week of September through Foliage season.

On Monday's during July and August the Carillon sails from Whitehall, NY, Birthplace of the U.S. Navy. The regular walk-on cruise will sail at 3:00pm from Smokin on The Water. At 5:30pm on Mondays (beginning July 11) we offer a dinner cruise from Smokin on The Water, a fine restaurant on the canal in Whitehall, NY. Call (518)499-0316 for dinner reservations and sail with us through Lock 12 of the Champlain Canal and then back North on Lake Champlain. This portion of Lake Champlain is very river-like with beautiful scenery, abundant sightings of Eagles, Osprey, and Heron, and the calmest waters on the Lake.
